Shiny Fruit on the back of your iPhone?

This video of modded rear-shell of iPhone is pretty convicting, russian modders made Apple Logo at the back of iPhone shine just like on MacBooks. It’s very interestin how this affects battery and is it made with leds or using phone’s own screen backlid. They are saying brightness is controllable in settings. Very nice, but it’s kinda passe considering alot of people are switching over to 3G version of the phone with plastic back.

Personal Experience with iPhone 2.0 Firmware. Good

It’s been almost a month since I updated my iPhone to 2.0 firmware and jailbroken it. Broken with pwnage tool 2, the breaking process was quite easy, as I figured it out in the end. With default pwnage setting I got Cydia, it’s an Installer competitor. As I figured out Cydia is more user and developer (also hacker) friendly.

My 1.1.4 firmware iPhone was broken with ziPhone, and I have to say to you, after I upgraded to 2.0, my battery life was twice better as it used to be before. Maybe it’s the ziPhone breakage sucks, or apple did so much optimization that OS now consumes less battery, I don’t know, but the end result is still very good, I have the same battery life as it was when I first got my iPhone. Impressive.

Favorite Apps so far:

  1. Trism - Very nice “puzzle” app, I played the demoon 1.1.4, so i decided to buy the full version now, pretty good game, with 3 different gaming modes it makes the game even better. Best game you can get on the iPhone, and only on iPhone, because it uses touchscreen and accelerometer. There is a luck factor in the game but still, for $4.99 it’s very good game, I would even pay twice as that for it!
  2. Cube Runner - A free game, navigate your “ship” through randomly placed cubes and labyrinths using accelerometer. Pretty good game, it’s a pity it’s free, but I’m sure developer must be putting an effort in the paid version. As it is free, the graphics are lousy and there are only 3 levels, but you can make your own if you know how to program them.
  3. GTS World Racing - Car racing game, pretty classic ones, good, not great graphics. I really like the control, you steer, accelerate and break by tilting the phone. 4 play modes, I’m still completing the Challenge Cup, since you can only play this game while sitting still, I like to play games while I’m in the process of lying on the bed. So, for $7.99, quite a time killer, but price should be a little lower in my opition, I still don’t regret.
  4. Light - a free light app that makes your screen completely white + maximum brightness. There are so many apps like that in App Store, I prefer this one because it’s free and is controllable through Setting, not itself. I don’t need this control but it’s better when you screen is solid white :)
  5. Remote - a remote controller of iTunes application on your Mac or PC with your iphone, very good, I bet you already heard of it. Free, published by Apple.
  6. Eventful - keep informed about events in your area, demand artists to your town, see your what events your friend are going to visit and more. It’s actually a client app for website www.eventful.com, I like it. There is also an alternative app by Yellow Pages, YPMobile app, Events tab. Eventful is Free.
  7. midomi - Song recognition application, works pretty well for me, now I’m out of songs I know that don’t have a name for me. Free

I’m looking forward to buy MobileFinder, Super Monkey Ball, BeatMaker and some more racing games, maybe also a puzzle game.

What I have to add is that App Store is a big success for Apple, bringing applications right to the user. Apple recently confirmed App Store brought them $30 million and 60 million apps downloaded. Knowing Apple gets 30% of an Application price, it’s $100 million paid for 60 million apps, as long as most apps are free, and other are more than $1,7 I’m not afraid to tell that free apps are most commenly used (who woulda thought? :)

Apple iPhone 3G Finally Here, Reviewed.

Guys at Gizmodo already reviewed new wonder-phone the iPhone 3G. Well, what can i say, there is an interesting 3G vs EDGE comparison graph. The tests say 3G is 4.8 times faster, but at the end, we all now the only that matters is how fast we will be able to open google.com and search results there. So on website lovelyplanet.com 3G hit 2.6 times faster, and nationalgeographic.com only 1.9 times faster, well, better anyways.

The new casing. Well, my opinion, while it looks and “feels” better than the previous aluminum one, you have to admin it, it is also cheaper, and gets warmer faster and keeps the warmth longer. What’s the deal you’ll say? The thing is that warm is the worst thing to the battery, thats why you shall never leave your phone or other battery-powered gadgets on the sun or in hot places.

Good part everybody already know, the headphone jack is not recessed. Camera is the same.

iPhone 3G Ad Kicks All ‘em Wannabees In The Nuts

It’s finally here: the first phone to beat the iPhone.

And yes, it’s iPhone 3G who beats the iPhone. Prices are $199-299, for 8GB and 16GB Models. These photos turned out to be real, 16GB version goes in 2 colors! And those are totally fake, iPhone 3G doesn’t get a front camera for videocalls, what a pity!

3G iPhone Will Have $200-250 Price Tag?

iPhoneWell tomorrow, we will have a strong picture of what 3G iPhone look like and how much will it cost, but until then, some people try to fake the new device. And some try to figure out how AAPL stocks will behave in different situations, to make some sort of a money. Last year, stocks were climbing up just before the announce, but it was just rumored, but pretty obvious. Then, on the MacWorld this year, some geniuses thought iPhone 3G will be annouced, but it didn’t and stocks felt down very fast. Now stocks of Apple are at the peak, and only hours left for big stock holders to figure out what to do, keep them, or sell them and buy out when they will fall *if they will*. Financial Times posted this recently:

The new version of the Apple iPhone is set to be sold at significantly lower prices than the existing one, in a tacit acknowledgement by the US technology company that its previous sales strategy was not sustainable. Apple has bowed to pressure from mobile phone operators and agreed they can subsidise the latest iPhone, expected to be unveiled by Steve Jobs, Apple’s chief executive, on Monday.

Nominal price of the phone is much bigger, but it will be covered up with AT&T plan prices, and this way AT&T take care of expenses to sell this phone cheaper, to make people buy it. Financial Times

P.S.: Idea is floating in my head that low iPhone prices will probably kill iPod Touch? That’s why they are giving it away with iMac to students :)

3G iPhone in Red color kinda sorta confirmed, will be thicker but thinner.

Leaked pictures, show the thing that we supposed earlier, iPhone is going to be in black and red colors. Those may be not real pics! Rumors been going around it’s going to thicker, and thinner. What I have to say, it turned out to be thicker, but the feel will be thinner, because of thinner edges, just like Motorola RAZR had, the phone itself wasn’t so thin, but it felt like it because it was trimmed with metal and thin edges. 3G iPhone has videocall camera, what a wonder. You will now be able to iChat not only with other iPhone users, but also with Windows Mobile users, using 3G or Wifi if you are able. Photo credit goes to Crunchgear.

EDIT: How cool, when the next iPhone will be about to be announced, I’ll photoshop new iPhone too, to get some clicks on my blog :)

New Rumors Hit 3G iPhone, 22 percent thinner? No-believe.

New *Most likely fake* 3G iPhone specs leaked (if it can even be called specs), here. It’s only 7 days until it’s announce, and yes, rumors are still floating. The picutres on that site shows iPhone in aluminum cover, which is believed to be plastic for 3G iPhone. It will have GPS as supposed, but most likely will be useful feature for car drivers, becausewho will waste battery life on that? Joke. Anyways, I don’t believe this rumor to be true, while Apple really likes to make all things smaller, and smarrel, and then even smaller. This is not the case, it’s not that easy to get twice as much RAM memory, 3G and GPS chips, and what is most important, keep price tag the same! Do not believe in this. [Picture Gizmodo]

First News About Android On This Blog

Eventually I was making this blog to post news about Windows Mobile phones, iPhone and Android news. But as long as Android hasn’t much to shine right now, this is the post about android here. And it’s a good news! There will be a store, where Android users will be able to get their applications, and developers sell their stuff. Just like upcoming iPhone App Store. This is pretty amazing, i guess after success of both of them, microsoft will lauch their app store for Windows Mobile users. Here is the quote by Andy Rubin, project leader:

“It would be a great benefit to the Android community to provide a place where people can go to safely and securely download content and where a billing system would allow developers to get paid for their effort…We wouldn’t have done our job if we didn’t provide something that helps developers get distribution.”

This is pretty good, because developers are not limited with as much as iPhone app developers are. While Android is not avaliable in the market, we are looking forward to touch it and visit the App Store for Android users.

iControlPad for the iPhone, it’s now iPSPhone

iControlPad is now alive. There are plenty of emulators for the iPhone, but playing without real controls sometimes is a problem, so guys at iControlPad decided to make an addon. It works very well (as they say :) ), you have to do nothing to install it, just put your iPhone in it. It’s a little smaller than a PSP, and they are going to release iPod Touch version too!

IntelliScreen, a very nice iPhone app released, Beta.

Well, when I saw this app, my thoughts were, wow. Well it’s very cool, you can guess it’s feature from the image to the left. It places usefull information on Locked Screen of your iPhone. It’s very usefull, now you don’t need to unlock it, you can read recent news, email, check weather and see calendar events right there. Well, it’s very usefull. I won’t place here the information how to install it, or more features, because you can find it all here. Attention! It’s in Beta yet, so I don’t suggest you to install it. I will place a little review of mine here.

Well I have installed it right when I first heard of it. Firs thing that bumped in my eyes, was a Pop-up of this program, “Read Before Purchasing”, and I wasn’t promted to purchase anything. This means the program is commercial, and it will cost some money and be avaliable in the App Store. Secondly, it fetches weather from some shitty weater network that doesn’t have my town (well most likely this means that my town is shitty :)) The program is usefull, but lets face it - it will consume more battery. If it will check for news feeds, sports feed, e-mail and weather, on the background, it will consume your power. If not then you will have to wait for it to load the data, in the mean time you could just unlock you phone and do it yourself.
